Present your products, accept payments and deliver purchases automatically. Choose a hosted shop, sell through a marketplace or add digital sales to an existing WordPress website. Compare file-size allowances, download controls and the fees charged on each sale. Consider how customers will discover your products and how easily they can access their purchases or receive updated files.
Easy Digital Downloads adds a digital shop to a WordPress website. Create product pages for ebooks, templates, software and other files, with a shopping cart, discount codes and automatic download delivery after payment. The free core plugin supports unlimited products, but you need your own hosting and domain. Its free version adds a 3% application fee to Stripe and PayPal payments, on top of the payment provider’s processing charges. An active Extended or higher paid pass removes the additional Stripe fee. Paid plans also provide features such as recurring payments and software licensing, with availability depending on the package.

Etsy provides a marketplace for digital products you have made or designed, such as printable artwork, planners, templates and craft patterns. Upload ready-made files for automatic delivery after purchase, or offer personalised digital items that you deliver when completed. Your shop sits within Etsy’s searchable marketplace, with tools for managing listings, orders and customer messages. A standard shop has no monthly subscription, but listing, transaction and payment-processing fees apply. A one-off shop setup fee may also be charged. Sales generated through Offsite Ads can attract an additional advertising fee, so include these costs when pricing your products.
